Quinn cited the generosity of The Whaler Condominium for a large portion of the materials that were needed to complete the project. “Actually, it was a case where everybody helped out. We tore down the old one in late September and had the new one close to complete in October,” he added. Pointing at fellow paddler Mardy RayRay standing nearby, Quinn commented, “You see Mardy over there? He embodies the spirit we have going with this club this year. He’s gone from 350 pounds to 220 pounds over the last year or so. He just never gives up!”Lahaina Canoe Club will host the Keiki O Maui Regatta on July 17 at Hanakao‘o Beach Park (Canoe Beach) before the final events of the 2010 Maui County Hawaiian Canoe Association races that will determine the island representatives to the state regatta at Keehi Lagoon in Honolulu on Aug. 5.
